A plumbing emergency does not wait for business hours. A supply line lets go overnight, a sewer backs up during dinner service, a water heater starts leaking across the garage floor on a Sunday. What matters in that moment is reaching someone who answers and can get a licensed plumber moving.
Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup answers the phone 24 hours a day and dispatches from Mobile. We have served this area since 1962. Today our third-generation, family-owned company runs about 48 employees, including 31 licensed plumbers, across Mobile, Baldwin and Washington counties.
Need an emergency plumber in Mobile, AL? Call 251-239-9163. You do not need to diagnose the problem before you call.

What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency?
If water is actively escaping, wastewater is coming back into the building, or you have lost water entirely, treat it as an emergency and call.
Situations we respond to around the clock include:
- A burst or leaking supply line
- Sewage backing up into a tub, shower, floor drain or toilet
- A toilet or fixture overflowing that will not shut off
- A water heater leaking or failing
- Multiple drains backing up at the same time
- No water to the building
- Water reaching drywall, flooring, cabinets or insulation
- A plumbing failure that has shut down a business or kitchen
A sewer backup deserves particular caution. Wastewater is a health hazard rather than ordinary household water, and it needs proper removal, cleaning and drying.
What Should You Do Before We Arrive?
Your first job is not to diagnose the whole problem. It is to stop more water from entering the building and keep everyone away from electrical and sewage hazards.
Shut the water off as close to the problem as you safely can. Most toilets and sinks have their own shutoff valve. If the fixture valve will not turn or does not stop the flow, go to the main water shutoff if you know where it is and can reach it safely.
Stay away from standing water near outlets, appliances or a breaker panel. If the panel is wet, or water sits between you and it, do not approach it. Keep people and pets out of the area instead.
If wastewater is backing up, stop using plumbing fixtures in the building. Running more water adds more wastewater to a system that is already failing to drain.
Do You Actually Answer the Phone at 2 A.M.?
Yes. Our phone is answered 24 hours a day and our crews are dispatched from Mobile. A homeowner calling from Midtown, Spring Hill, west Mobile, Chickasaw, Saraland or Semmes is reaching an operation based in the same market it serves.
That is not a response-time promise. Workload, road conditions and active emergencies all affect scheduling. What it does tell you is where the response is being coordinated and who is coordinating it.
When you call, it helps to tell us what is happening, where the water is coming from, whether you were able to shut anything off, whether water is near electrical equipment, and whether the water looks clean or contains sewage.

What Emergency Plumbing Problems Do We Handle?
Our emergency work covers the same range as our regular service, because an emergency is usually an ordinary plumbing system failing at an inconvenient hour.
That includes burst and leaking pipes, drain cleaning for drains that have stopped or backed up, sewer line repair when the problem is in the line itself, and water heater repair when a tank fails or begins leaking.
We do not perform plumbing for ground-up new construction. We do handle plumbing for existing buildings, commercial remodels and renovations.
Our work is under warranty. Ask about the warranty terms when you call.
What Happens After the Water Stops?
Stopping the leak is only the first half of the job. Water that soaked into drywall, carpet pad, insulation, baseboards or cabinetry does not disappear because the visible puddle is gone.
This is where many plumbing companies hand you off to someone else. We do not. Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup handles the plumbing repair, the water damage restoration and, when it becomes necessary, mold remediation with our own crews. One company, one call.
That matters because wet building materials are time-sensitive. The sooner affected areas are evaluated, extracted and dried, the less likely a plumbing failure turns into a larger restoration project.

Do You Handle Commercial Emergencies?
Yes. We provide emergency plumbing for businesses, restaurants, property managers, contractors and industrial facilities throughout Mobile, Baldwin and Washington counties.
Commercial emergencies carry a second clock. A sewer backup or failed water line can stop service, close a kitchen or affect tenants in parts of the building that were never involved in the original problem. Knowing which lines serve which areas, and what can be isolated, is part of the response.
For commercial water cleanup specifically, call 251-479-9454.
What Happens When You Call?
Call 251-239-9163 and tell us what is happening. Our team can help get a service call scheduled and talk you through anything you should or should not do in the meantime.
We charge a diagnostic fee to come out and find the problem. Once the plumber identifies the cause, you can discuss the recommended solution before the work is performed.
Whether you have a burst pipe, a sewer backup, a failing water heater or water spreading across a floor, call Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup at 251-239-9163 for an emergency plumber in Mobile, Baldwin and Washington counties.
